Director
I qualified as a Nurse from Robert Gordon University in September 2006. I worked for the NHS for a few years before transitioning to work as a nurse in a care home. After spending a few years in care homes, I took on the role of Care Home Manager and continued in that capacity for several years before deciding to become an agency nurse. Whilst working as an agency nurse, I travelled to different parts of Scotland where I witnessed various types of care, ranging from excellent to poor. This experience strengthened my determination to make a positive change in the care system. Consequently, Deklyn and I decided to start our own care company, with a commitment to putting the clients at the heart of everything we do. Thus, Mitchell & Murdoch Care Ltd was founded in December 2019.

Deklyn

My journey in health and social care started seven years ago, where I’ve gained abundant experience across a variety of settings. I’m deeply passionate about effective communication and delivering person-centred care. My experience has shaped my role, with a focus on instigating positive change within the Health and Social Care industry. With a shared vision, we established Mitchell & Murdoch Care in 2019.

Service Manager
I started with the company just over 2 years ago in August 2023. When I started we just had Care at Home in Perth, Crieff and Kinross. Unfortunately, due to economic factors, we had to give up Kinross and Crieff but now have clients in Perth, Dundee and are looking towards Fife. We also provide a sitting service for clients in Perth and Dundee.
I have been a Registered nurse for nearly 38 years. Initially working in hospitals and day centres for people with a learning disability I moved into care of the elderly in 2009. I was the manager of nursing homes until May 2021 when I began in the care at home sector as a Senior Care Coordinator and trainer. I joined MM Care Ltd in August 2021 initially as the manager of the agency before becoming the Service Manager of the care at home provision.
I am most proud of the ongoing learning I do, including two stints at university where I gained a Batchelor of Nursing degree and a BA in Finance and Business. Work wise I love my job and it was a proud day for me over a year ago when we moved into Dundee to provide care with one run in Broughty Ferry which has grown over the year to 10 runs.
In my spare time I can be found on the terraces of my local football club or spending time with my family.

I just recently started my journey working in the care sector as I felt I needed a career change from hospitality. I have always enjoyed working in an office setting, so in this industry I get to do that whilst being a part of a service that helps and supports the most vulnerable in our society; it’s really intrinsically rewarding. After I left school, I studied psychology along with other subjects at college because I wanted to help people, and I spent time volunteering with a social group for adults with disabilities at my local community center which I think really inspired me to want to help people. I look forward to my career journey in this sector, everything I will learn and all the people I will meet.

Assistant Manager
I joined the MM care company in December 2023.
I have worked in all backgrounds of the care sector over the last 12 years. My first job was in community care, I have then gone on to work in supported living, home care and day opportunities supporting adults with learning disabilities.
I am always carrying out the latest training and SVQ qualifications to learn more about my role in social care, I'm a knowledge hungry person who loves to learn new things.
In my spare time I love spending time with my family

Service Manager for Aberdeen
Started in February 2024
After finishing my degree in Law and Management in 2019 I stared a career in the care industry working as a Co-ordinator for a Home Help service within Aberdeen. I found that having a job in Health and Social care Is a rewarding one and we really did make a difference to many people’s lives. After 4 years there, I decided on a career change and worked as an Account Manager in Oil and Gas. I was only there a short time when an opportunity came up for a position at Mitchell and Murdoch when they opened the branch in Aberdeen.
It was a positive move, and I am happy to be back in Health and Social Care. The team here have been nothing but supportive since I have started. The staff and clients at Mitchell and Murdoch make my job enjoyable every day and I look forward to seeing how Mitchell and Murdoch grow in the coming years.

Care Team Leader – Aberdeen Sit in service. I began my career in 2021 working as a home help for another company. I really enjoyed this job, and it fitted in well while studying social work. After gaining some experience from studying I decided to join the team at Mitchell and Murdoch Care as a team leader for the sit in service. I enjoy my job as the hours are suitable and I get to build a working relationship with clients and ensure they are getting the support they need, it is rewarding in making a difference.

My time is usually taken up taking care of my kids and at the football. We are Dundee FC supporters and often go to watch the matches at Dens Park. I have many years’ experience in healthcare, I started my career when I was 19 years old. I started my career as a Care Assistant within care homes which I enjoyed. I worked in the community as a Care at Home Assistant which I really enjoyed, but I wanted to progress my career at this point and gone on to become a Senior Nursing Care Assistant in 2020 which was interesting. I went on to working nightshift in a small care home over in Fife before progressing my career some more here at Mitchell & Murdoch Care as a CQL. Megan MacDonald

Care Team Leader - Onboarding December 2021. I first started caring in 2019. I was finishing my chef internship when a friend introduced me into caring. This was a job I never imagined myself being in, but I'm glad I went for it as it is one of the most awarding jobs out there. Since starting care, my experience and education have grown since. I have achieved my SVQ 2 with Mitchell and Murdoch Care when they gave me the opportunity to progress my education. Since then, I have been successful in becoming a Care Qualtiy Lead. There can be some challenges, but we all work together to get through them. I am looking forward to continuing my career in care and hope it will take me further in the future.
